The Award Ceremony of “Precious Moment with Ponte 16 Photo Contest”

and the Opening Ceremony of “16 Photography Exhibition” Successfully Held

 

[Hong Kong/Macau, 12 December, 2024] Ponte 16 Resort, Macau (hereinafter “Ponte 16”) has long been committed to promoting local arts and cultural development, aiming to contribute to Macau's development as a world tourism and leisure center. Coinciding with the 25th anniversary of Macau’s return to the motherland, Ponte 16 hosted the award ceremony of the “Precious Moment with Ponte 16 Photo Contest” (hereinafter the “Photo Contest”) and the opening ceremony of the “16 Photography Exhibition” today (12 December). The events not only mark the celebration of Ponte 16’s 16th anniversary, an important milestone in its history, but also resonate with Macau’s return, reflecting Ponte 16’s deep connection with Macau’s development and demonstrating its dedication to cherishing and commemorating Macau’s significant history.

The event attracted numerous guests and photography enthusiasts who gathered to commemorate this meaningful occasion, expressing their love and support for Macau's rich history and culture.

Dr. Hoffman Ma, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Ponte 16, remarked: “This year not only marks the 16th anniversary of Ponte 16, an important milestone in our journey, but also the 25th anniversary of Macau’s return to the motherland. Over the past 25 years, Macau has enjoyed economic prosperity and cultural diversity under the policy of ‘One Country, Two Systems’, successfully shaping a unique and captivating cityscape. Through this photo contest and photography exhibition, we hope to document the city’s remarkable development and transformation over the past 16 years, share Macau’s precious memories, and inspire a deeper connection and love for its culture among more people. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all participants for their enthusiasm and creativity, which have enabled us to showcase the beauty and vibrancy of Macau through lens of photography. We hope this contest and exhibition not only highlight the artistic value behind the winning works but also encourage people to explore and appreciate Macau from diverse perspectives, inspiring them to uncover its stories. With its unique geographical advantage of being surrounded by world heritage sites, Ponte 16 will remain committed to promoting local arts and cultural activities, showcasing Macau's rich cultural charm to the world. The “Precious Moment with Ponte 16 Photo Contest” was co-organized by Ponte 16 and The Photographic Society of Macao (澳門攝影學會), under the theme “The Charm of Macau.” Participants were invited to share the cultural richness and captivating moments of Macau over the past 16 years. The Photo Contest also echoed Macau’s return to the motherland, showcasing the transformation and development of the city during this historical period through the lens of photography.

The Photo Contest featured a distinguished panel of judges, including Mr. Chan Ping-chung, President of the China Photographers Association Hong Kong Branch (中國攝影家協會香港會員分會) and Council Member of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles Hong Kong Member Association (香港文聯); Mr. Andy Kwok, Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Culture Association (香港各界文化促進會) and President of the Hong Kong Culture Association Photography Society (香港各界文化促進會攝影會); Mr. Ringo Tang, a renowned photographer in Hong Kong; Mr. Song Guchun, President of the Shenzhen Drone Aerial Photography Association (深圳市無人機航拍協會) and Deputy Director of the Aerial Photography Committee of the Guangdong Photographers Association (廣東省攝影家協會航拍委員會); and Dr. Hoffman Ma, Executive President of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles Hong Kong Member Association (中國文學藝術界聯合會香港會員總會) and Deputy CEO of Ponte 16. The judges assessed submissions based on historical significance, originality, and composition from a professional perspective. Prizes were awarded to winners in both the Open and Aerial Sections, including the Champion, 1st Runner-Up, 2nd Runner-Up, and 10 Outstanding Awards. The organizers expressed heartfelt gratitude to all participants for their enthusiastic involvement and congratulated the winners for their exceptional achievements.

Following the award ceremony, the opening ceremony of the “16 Photography Exhibition” took place. As the host officially announced the exhibition’s opening, guests raised their glasses to celebrate and expressed their support for Macau's cultural and artistic development. The exhibition features an extensive collection of works from participants, presented in various forms. This visual feast showcases Macau’s dynamic and diverse essence, offering cherished memories and fostering meaningful connections among visitors.

The “16 Photography Exhibition” will run until 12 February 2025. The public is warmly invited to visit during the exhibition period.
