Exploring Seasonal Transformations with the Love of Macau’s Iconic Lotus
[Hong Kong / Macau, 29 August, 2024] Ponte 16 Resort, Macau (hereinafter “Ponte 16”) has been dedicated to promote local art and cultural events, significantly contributing to Macau’s community while enhancing its reputation as a world-class tourist destination. Ponte 16 proudly presents the exhibition “Come Rain or Shine” by dawn jian, running from 30th August to 30th October, 2024.
The exhibition invites viewers on a dynamic journey through the four seasons, featuring Macau’s iconic lotus flower. The artworks seamlessly transition between reality and the digital realm, capturing both beauty and the sublime.
The colourful narrative begins in fall, marked by rustic hues that promise a bountiful harvest and moments of deep joy. As the journey moves into the flourishing vibrancy of spring, the artworks shift from representation to abstraction. The last two paintings introduce digital pixels into gestural abstraction.
Winter’s digital landscape then emerges, exploring the contrast between the natural sublime and the digital sublime. This theme delves into how artificial intelligence (“AI”), technology, and digital entities reshape our constructed environments – like tree roots breaking through pavement or vines engulfing a building's facade. It provokes contemplation on balancing one's role in today's AI-influenced world.
Finally, the last room captures the long summer days, where budding florals invite viewers to contemplate the fleeting feeling of tranquility and serenity amidst the heat.

About Dawn Jian
Dawn Jian, a talented artist from Guangzhou, China, graduated Summa Cum Laude from the prestigious Maryland Institute College of Art in the United States. Her diverse body of work spans installation art, painting, and design, with a keen focus on ephemerality and the harmonious fusion of Eastern traditions and modern Western philosophy. Jian’s paintings are characterized by an improvisational and ad hoc spirit, where various elements converge to form intricate and though-provoking images. Her artistic exploration delves into the interplay between the representational and the abstract, emphasizing the significance of our connection to nature, playfulness, surprise, and experimentation.
In 2018, Jian garnered recognition as one of the ten most promising emerging artists from China, courtesy of the QingCun Art Foundation. Since then, her captivating works have graced exhibitions both in the United States and China.
