Michael Jackson’s Iconic Collection at Ponte 16 Press Conference
(Macau, 13 December 2009) Michael Jackson’s Iconic Collection at Ponte 16 Press Conference was held at the Banquet Hall, Sofitel Hotel at Ponte 16 in this afternoon. Dr. Ambrose So, Chairman of Ponte 16 Macau; Mr. Sonny Yeung, Chief Executive Officer of Ponte 16 Macau; Mr. Hoffman Ma, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Ponte 16 Macau; Mr. Darren Julien, President & CEO of Julien’s Auction; Mr. Martin Nolan, Executive Director of Julien’s Auction and Mr. Michel Molliet, Vice President Sofitel Greater China attended the conference.
Dr. So expressed his delight at Ponte 16’s successful bid of Michael Jackson’s 10 iconic items. The highlight of the collection is the famous white rhinestone glove that Michael Jackson wore when he premiered his trademark Moonwalk Dance. The collection also includes garments and autographed photos of Michael Jackson. Dr. So announced that Ponte 16 is organizing the first Michael Jackson Gallery in Asia and is planning to open to the public on 1st February 2010, which is also the 2nd Anniversary of Ponte 16. He believed that the gallery will attract more tourists to visit Macao to experience the unique cultural ambience of Inner Harbor District and the warm hospitality provided by Ponte 16. “Ponte 16 will continue to collect more Michael Jackson’s iconic items for the gallery,” Dr. So continued. To celebrate the grand opening of Oceanus, a subsidiary of Socieadade de Jogos de Macau, S.A. (SJM) on 15th December, Mr. Yeung announced that Michael Jackson’s white rhinestone glove will be displayed at Oceanus on the grand opening day together with the biggest truffle which SJM has bid successfully in the auction last week.
Before the press conference came to an end, the guests and the media were invited to visit the showroom where the 10 precious items were displayed.
